"... tenor Michael Jones, recently heard
locally with Piffaro, sang particularly
beautifully in the Bach."
- Chestnut Hill Local

VOICE

“Best of the soloists was tenor Michael Jones as the Evangelist... His [voice] is one of dramatic expressivity that caught the quality of immediacy with which Schütz invested the music of the evangelist” - Chestnut Hill Local

Tenor

Michael Jones has appeared as a professional tenor with some of the nation's finest choral ensembles including the @GRAMMY award winning group The Crossing, @GRAMMY award winning group Conspirare, Santa Fe Desert Choral, Apollo's Fire, Variant 6, ekmeles, The Thirteen, Choral Arts Philadelphia and Madison Choral Project, Chicago's Music of the Baroque, William Ferris Chorale, Grant Park Opera Chorus, the Bridge Ensemble, Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, and Chorosynthesis. This coming season, Michael will make his debut with a few groups including Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the Academy of Sacred Drama and Opera Phildelphia.

While studying for Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in jazz trumpet, Michael pursued studies in classical voice with David Adams at University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music and Keven Keys at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. He was a founding member of the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Donald Nally.

Michael is equally at home with jazz standard and works of Western masters like Bach, Brahms and Beethoven. In the spring of 2019, Michael was selected as one of eight finalists to sing for a spot in VOCES8, an internationally recognized vocal chamber group based in London.
