Tenor

Michael Jones has appeared as a professional tenor with some of the nation's finest choral ensembles including the @GRAMMY award winning group The Crossing, @GRAMMY award winning group Conspirare, Apollo's Fire, Variant 6, ekmeles, Choral Arts Philadelphia and Madison Choral Project. Chicago's Music of the Baroque, William Ferris Chorale, Grant Park Opera Chorus, the Bridge Ensemble, and Chorosynthesis. This coming season, Michael will make his debut with several groups including Grammy-nominated True Concord Voices and Orchestra, Bach@7 Choral Arts Philadelphia, Les Canards Chantants, and Alium Spiritum. Michael has recorded on Parma, Albany, World Library Publications (WLP), and GIA and has performed on five Downbeat Award-winning recordings.

While studying for Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in jazz trumpet, Michael pursued studies in classical voice with David Adams at University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music and Keven Keys at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. He was a founding member of the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Donald Nally.


Michael is equally at home with jazz standards and works of Western masters like Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven. Recent recordings include:
